PESHAWAR, Feb 7: Students should learn to act in accordance with what they profess, to follow what they consider the appropriate path, to adopt what they find good, and avoid what is morally wrong.

This was stated by Council of Islamic Ideology Chairman Professor Dr M Zaman. He was addressing a book launching ceremony here the other day at Shaikh Zaid Islamic Centre, University of Peshawar.

He urged for the promotion of punctuality, truth, hard work, honesty, simplicity, patriotism, mutual love, sincerity, social sense, obedience to law, tolerance, and other desirable virtues among students.

Mr Zaman stressed upon teachers to take lead in supporting, and guiding the youth in the right direction. We should adopt the real teachings of Islam as it was the only way to success, he added.

He congratulated the director of the centre for launching such an important book consisting of juridical verdicts and other issues.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Zulfiqar Hussain Gilani, who presided over the ceremony, said on the occasion that we must act upon what we preach.

Mr Gillani said theory of Islam and practice should be followed simultaneously to produce results. He stressed upon the students to bear good moral character.

The youth must be the model of faith and piety. They should have a fairly good knowledge of Islam, and their conduct should conform to their believe, he added.

Earlier, Professor Gahfoor, director of the centre, welcomed and briefed the guests about centre’s programmes.
