SWABI, Feb 4: A pilot project has been launched in 56 union councils as part of a new strategy to educate the people about the importance of birth registration.

This was stated by Birth Registration Officer, Tahir Mohammad Khan at a meeting of secretaries held at Tehsil Chhotta Lahore here on Monday.

He  told  the participants that under  the  project  a communication strategy had been devised which was aimed to educate  the people about the importance  of  birth registration. “Last year the project provided necessary stationary for birth registration to all union councils and in the future whenever needed they will provide the necessary help,” he added.

At present, he said, they were visiting union councils in which basic information about the birth registration was being provided to the people. For the success of the door-to-door campaign participation of the local government representatives was vital and they were requested to help them, he added.

BODIES FOUND: A lady health visitor (LHV) and her assistant were killed by some unidentified persons four days back and their bodies were found in their clinic on Monday.

The LHV Sultan Zari alias Madam deputed at reproductive centre Chhotta Lahore, had opened a clinic in the Zaida Bazaar where she used to work after her official duty. She was a resident of Miani village but living in Murghuz and usually went to her home on Fridays.

The other woman Mehnaz daughter of Raz Mohammad was resident of Anbar and was working with Sultan Zari as her assistant.
