Gadoon Estate Committee restored

By Muqaddam Khan

SWABI, Feb 3: Upholding the directive of the provincial minister for industries, the district Nazim Sher Zaman Sher has restored the defunct Gadoon Estate Committee which would study and allow machinery for repairing from Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate.

This was stated by the president of Gadoon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Col (retd) Riazul Haq, while briefing the local journalists about the latest decision here on Sunday.

Mr Haq said, the officer-bearers of the chamber along with the former president Liaqat Ahmad Khan and Zahid Shah and officials of the Sarhad Development Authority, met the district Nazim on the other day and he was apprised about the harsh difficulties confronted by the Gadoon entrepreneurs to repair their machinery or to replace the outdated with the new one.

He said to shift the machinery for repairing they had to go through a difficult procedure and the local administration had frequently imposed ban on the shifting of machinery, fearing that the industrialists would shift their machinery to some other attractive zones in the country but those who remained still here, wanted to stay here and those who wanted to shift their machinery had already achieved their objectives while leaving empty buildings.

The former provincial minister for industries, he said, had directed the local administration to restore the Gadoon committee as those who need to repair their machinery would contact its members and the district government.

Before the permission of shifting of machinery, he said, the committee members would check it thoroughly as to ensure that the machinery was not being shifted on the pretext of repairing.

With the restoration of the committee, he said, two more members president of GCCI and mechanical engineer were also inducted in it.

The district coordination officer Swabi would act as chairman, project manager SDA, Gadoon and industrial development officer would be its other members.

After getting application from an industrialist, the committee members would inspect the site as well as the machinery and after its green signal the machinery would be allowed for repairing, he added.
