KARACHI: Limits of police stations redrawn

KARACHI, Feb 3: Inspector general police, Syed Kamal Shah, said on Sunday that the demarcation of jurisdiction of police stations had been completed.

He was speaking at a police darbar of traffic police and station house officers at the Saleem Wahidi Auditorium.

Additional IG Asad Jahangir, DIG Tariq Jamil and other senior police officers were also present on the occasion.

He said the completion of area demarcation would automatically remove the chances of overlapping in the police performance.

He said that the federal government would provide additional funds for conducting investigations under the new system and every police station would get a new mobile this month. Out of order mobiles would be repaired and handed over to the concerned police stations.

He said the new police system in the city would distribute the workload and improve performance of police. He said that previously SHOs and their staffs were always busy in law and order duties and could not pay proper attention to other crimes, now things would change for the better.

He said now investigation would be a separate section, and added that investigation was always a separate section in the countries of the world.

The department of prosecution, he said would be separate but it would provide legal advises to police.

He advised police officers to work with honesty and dedication, keeping the fear of God in their minds. He said a police safety public commission would be set up in the province at the central level to monitor the work of police.—APP
