HYDERABAD: Man held with drugs

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Feb 3: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) officials arrested an alleged drug dealer and recovered 20kg heroin from his possession here on Saturday.

Accused Nadir Khan had come from Peshawar and was about to board a bus for Sanghar when he was arrested by an ANF team.

A case has been lodged against him and his remand has been obtained.

AI: The Amnesty International, Pakistan, has criticized the reconstitution of Anti-Terrorism Courts under the new amendments in the Anti-Terrorism Act and said that these courts did not comply with the normal standard of justice.

In a statement faxed to Dawn, the secretary general, AI, Iqbal Ahmed Detho, said that international law allowed the governments to try the civilians, charged with crimes against the security of the state, in military courts but raised genuine apprehensions in article 14 of the international covenant on civil and political rights.
