Youth shot dead by SHO

SHEIKHUPURA, Feb 1: A local police station SHO on Friday shot dead a youth, whom he recognized as a culprit wanted in several cases, near petrol pump, some 36km from here.

Reports reaching here revealed Khanqah Dogran police SHO Hamid Virk and constable Shahbaz intercepted Tahir Mahmood and directed him to follow them to the police station over charges.

The youth denied his involvement in any case and claimed the previous case against him under section 302 had already been disposed of by the SSP. In response, the officials opened firing on Mahmood, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, scores of local people staged a sit-in outside the SSP’s office. They urged the higher-ups to nab the two officials without delay.

KILLED: A man was killed while six others sustained injuries in two accidents on the Faisalabad Road near Adil Textile Mill, some 25km from here, on Friday.

According to details, a rashly-driven wagon (LOK-8332) hit a motorbike near the mill. Riders Aslam and Manzoor received serious injuries. A few yards away, the wagon hit a donkey cart. Owner Munir Husain died instantly. The donkey also died.

Four of the wagon occupants received injuries. The driver managed to escape.

SHOT DEAD: A youth was shot dead by four armed men in Chak 166, Kawanwali, some 50km from here on Thursday.

Adil, 25, was at home when the assailants opened indiscriminate firing on him, killing him instantly.
