Mansurul Haq released

RAWALPINDI, Jan 31: Former Naval Chief, Mansurul Haq, was released here on Thursday after he paid $6.2 million to the National Accountability Bureau.

The accused was released by Judge AC No 1 Rustam Ali Malik when both prosecution and defence lawyers confirmed that the plea-bargain application of Mansur had been accepted.

The accused would pay $7.5 million to NAB as a result of the agreement.

Mansur was brought to Pakistan for trial from the US in May last.

He was charged with receiving commission and kickbacks in a defence deal of Pakistan Navy during his tenure as the Chief of Naval Staff.—APP
