ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT) women’s wing will organize a national women convention in the Capital on February 10 as part of the party’s mass mobilization campaign.

This was announced by the party’s women wing organizer, Nazia Naureen, at a press conference in the PAT regional secretariat at Chandni Chowk.

She said thousands of PAT’s women activists and supporters would come from all over the country to participate in the convention.

She said the PAT had also invited women belonging to various non-governmental organizations to participate in the convention as observers.

Ms Naureen said the party had chalked out a comprehensive strategy to contest the elections on women seats in the forthcoming general elections. All tiers of the party had been activated to mobilize the womenfolk of the country, she added.

She said the convention would be inaugurated by PAT chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri. Leading personalities from various walks of life were expected to speak on the role of women in various fields including the national politics, she added.

She hoped that the electoral reforms of the present government would bring a revolutionary change in the lives of people.

She said the increase in the number of women seats in the national and provincial assemblies would usher an era of women participation in every field of life because, she added, women would be able to fight for their rights in the parliament.

She urged the people not to vote for the corrupt and incompetent politicians and support instead the educated and honest people.
