Villager killed in Indian firing

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Jan 31: A villager was martyred and two others sustained serious injuries in firing by Indian troops on bordering villages in the Sialkot working boundary’s Shakargarh and Bajwat sectors on Thursday.

Officials sources said Shahid Masood of Bara Bhai village, Muhammad Sabir, 26, of Kachhi Maand village and Rozina Bibi, 16, of Chak Bharat were sitting in the courtyards of their houses when some bullets hit them. Masood died instantly while the other two sustained injuries and were admitted to the local CMH in critical condition.

They said Chenab Rangers late Wednesday night had thwarted another major Indian attempt of fencing near the Bajwat sector, causing heavy defensive losses to the enemy.

Meanwhile, Indian security forces continued firing in villages in Bajwat, Chaprar, Harpal, Sucheetgarh and Shakargarh sectors. In a retaliatory action, the Chenab Rangers destroyed a big Indian army vehicle near the Akhnoor sector.
