HYDERABAD, Jan 31: Over one dozen dismissed women teachers of the city staged token hunger strike outside the Hyderabad press club here on Thursday.
They were protesting against the sacking of 66 women teachers and the alleged disrespectful attitude of the secretary education and EDO, education, Hyderabad.
Talking to newsmen they said that they had been kept on false hopes during the last three years but their patience had now exhausted.
They appealed to the Sindh governor that 66 city teachers whose services were terminated in 1998 should be reinstated.
A large number of teachers visited the hunger strikers camp and offered their support to the protesting teachers.
MUNICIPAL WORKERS: Over one dozen employees of Hyderabad City, Latifabad and Qasimabad tehsil councils under the banner of Municipal Workers Front staged token hunger strike outside the press club here on the second consecutive day on Thursday.
They were protesting against the non-payment of Dec salaries to the employees.
The leaders of several political and social welfare organizations visited the hunger strikers camp to express solidarity with the workers.
