KARACHI: SHCBA slams excesses against Taliban

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 31: The Sindh High Court Bar Association on Thursday expressed deep anguish and concern over the inhuman treatment being meted out to the prisoners taken in captivity by the Northern Alliance and the coalition forces in the war in Afghanistan.

The concern was expressed in a resolution adopted by the managing committee of the SHCBA which met under the chairmanship of its president, Abul Inam.

The SHCBA noted that the prisoners had been whisked away to an island thousands of miles away from their country where they were captured during a war imposed upon them, tenability of which could hardly be justified in law.

This act amounted to indulging in serious human rights violations which involved captives who were from various countries including Pakistan. This had attracted attention of the UK-based human rights organisation.
