HARIPUR, Jan 28: Three members of a family were shot dead in Makhan Colony here on Sunday.

Jameel and Jaleel, sons of Ghulam Rasool, barged into the house of Abdul Ghafoor and opened indiscriminate fire, killing Yousaf Jan, Ghafoor’s widow, and her sons, Faiz and Abdul Ghayyur, on the spot.

The motive behind the triple murder was said to be alleged illicit relations of a girl, belonging to the ill-fated family.

The girl’s another brother, who is in jail, shot a brother of the triple murderers some time back for having illicit relations with his sister.

The area police arrested the assailants and registered a case against them.

This was the third incident of identical nature within three weeks in the district.
