PML-N bid to mobilize workers

JHANG, Jan 28: The government will not be allowed to make the country a colony of the United States or a Pakistan of Kamal Atta Turk as being promised by General Pervez Musharraf.

This was stated by Punjab PML-N President Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa while addressing a workers’ convention in connection with the re-organization of the party at the residence of Mehr Muhammad Aslam Bharwana here on Monday.

He said since partition democracy had not been allowed to flourish in the country by military dictators.

He said Gen Musharraf had dismissed the constitutional government of Mian Nawaz Sharif, sent him to exile and tore the constitution of the country to pieces.

According to him, Musharraf had dealt eternal blows to democracy to perpetuate his rule and the PML(N) workers should prepare themselves to launch a crusade against “this dictatorial rule in the interest of national security.”

Referring to the re-organization of the party, he said that the campaign was being inaugurated from Jhang and the workers and office-bearers would have say in awarding tickets to the candidates for the forthcoming elections.

Punjab PML senior vice-president Begum Tehmina Daultana, speaking on the occasion, said Musharraf should quit the army and contest election if was interested in ruling the country.

Others who spoke on the occasion included PML(N) Punjab secretary-general Khwaja Saad Rafique, Bagum Najma Hamid, Zakia Shahnawaz, Mian Javed Latif, Punjab MSF president Rana Arshad, Ex-MPAs Mehr Aslam Bharwana and Muzzafar Khan Sail.
