KARACHI: Conviction challenged

KARACHI, Jan 28: An alleged international drug baron and former MNA from FATA, Haji Mohammed Ayub Afridi, who had been convicted by the Special Court (Customs and Taxation) Karachi on a charge of smuggling 17.5 tons of charas, has challenged his conviction before the Sindh High Court.

He moved the SHC through counsel Ismat Mehdi praying the court to set aside the impugned judgment dated November 28, 2001.

The Government of Pakistan granted remission and released him soon after conviction.—PPI
