KARACHI, Jan 28: Berthing activity at the wharves was maintained on the higher side on Monday where both the new arrivals and those awaiting berths were toed to the vacant berths.
Berth occupancy on the Bulk Oil Pier declined sharply to only 33 per cent as the number of calling tankers fell but on the dry berths it was normal around 52 per cent.
According to KPT sources four ships carrying containers and general cargo are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Tuesday.
The ships, which were berthed included Hyundai Advance, Kota Selamat, Parvat, Sinar Bali to unload and load containers, River Stream and Gina to load naptha and molasses.
Four ships, Jamila, Hyundai Advance, Islamabad and Ievoli Shine sailed out, while Sinar Bali, Capebona Vista, Parvat, River Dream and Macedonia Hellas are due to sail out on Tuesday.
Total tonnage of 47,428 tons comprising 26,160 tons of export cargo including 19,000 tons of molasses and 21,268 tons of import tonnage was handled.
The following ships are due on Tuesday: Mira, MSC Frementile, MSC Eliana, with containers and Iran Matin, with general cargo.
