KARACHI, Jan 23: A city-based journalist working for foreign media is missing since Tuesday evening along with his vehicle.
Ghulam Hasnain, working for Time, Sunday Times, Outlook of India, CNN, etc, was last seen at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday evening. He has been missing with his Suzuki Cultus (ACZ-668), said his wife Samina Mehdi, who is also a journalist working for Dawn.
She reported the matter to the Artillery Maidan police station. She said the laptop and other articles, he usually carried with him whenever he went out on assignments, remained at home. Besides, he always informed the family before going away for a day or more, she said, and added that this time he did not tell her anything.
IG Syed Kamal Shah told Dawn that all-out efforts were being made to trace the whereabouts of Ghulam Hasnain.
KUJ concerned: The Karachi Union of Journalists has expressed its concern over the disappearance of Ghulam Hasnain, adds PPI.
A KUJ statement said KUJ President Sarfaraz Ahmed held a meeting with the Sindh Home Secretary Brig Mukhtar Ahmed on Wednesday and told him about the journalists community’s concern over the disappearing of Ghulam Hasnain.
It said the home secretary assured that he would try his best to ascertain his whereabouts.
A meeting of the KUJ Executive Council will be held on Thursday at 3.30pm at the Karachi Press Club to take stock of the situation and devise a future line of action.
