Dutch beat Japan by tennis score

Monitoring Desk

Netherlands 6 Japan 0

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22: The Netherlands recorded their first win in the six-nation invitational tournament, beating the demoralized Japanese side 6-0 at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil Tuesday.

With the win, Holland has collected four points with their final match against hosts Malaysia on Thursday.

They still have a mathematical chance of qualifying for the final provided table leaders Pakistan and Australia falter in their remaining matches.

Japan have now conceded a total of 15 goals in the last two matches which including Monday’s 9-1 loss against the Pakistanis.

The star of the Dutch team was Karel Klaver who blasted in a hat trick. He scored Holland’s opening goal in the 14th minute and added another two in the 55th and 66th minute respectively.

Holland coach Joosf Bellaart was satisfied with his team’s performance although he said that his team should have scored a bigger win.

Teun De Nooijer scored a brace in the 38th and 65th minute while the other goal was scored by Taeke Taekema (44th).

Japanese’s team manager Tochi Nagai was happy with his players though they are the only team without a point in this tournament.
