KARACHI: New police system from Feb 1

KARACHI, Jan 22: The new police system in Sindh will be enforced from February 1.

Inspector General Police, Sindh Syed Kamal Shah, revealed this while presiding over a high-level meeting concerning police reforms here on Tuesday. He said under the new system the prosecution wing would be from investigation.

He said that under the new Police Act administrative, financial and operational changes were being introduced and hopefully that would provide maximum facilities and relief to the citizens and reduce public complaints against the police force.

Syed Kamal Shah said the police stations, town police and district police would play important roles under the new system. The police department had been divided according to their functions and the administration, operational, traffic and investigation sections would also work separately.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Additional IG police Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, DIG Karachi Tariq Jamil.
