KARACHI: Muttahida slams police hiring rules

KARACHI, Jan 22: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Tuesday criticized the methodology adopted for recruitments in the police force and termed it a conspiracy against the people of Sindh.

Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, the convener of the party’s coordination committee, Aftab Ahmed Shaikh, alleged that the new procedure was aimed at keeping the citizens of Sindh out of the competition.

He viewed that the recruitment rules and standing orders had been finalized by the former Sindh IGP Asad Mohib in 1998, which would, according to him, remain in force by the end of 2002. “In the presence of these rules, there is no need to introduce new recruitment rules,” he maintained.

Criticizing the restriction of a minimum height of 5.7ft and physical tests, he termed it a conspiracy against the people of Sindh as according to him, normal height of the Sindhis was 5.5ft.

He said the candidates from the province would not be able to clear the physical tests as they were not habitual of taking hard exercises.

Aftab Shaikh criticized the application forms for the post of constables, which, he said, contained unnecessary inquiries. He also denounced appointment of psychologists for examining the applicants.—PPI
