Custodial death sparks riots in Jordanian city

MAAN, (Jordan) Jan 22: Hooded demonstrators attacked government buildings in the southern Jordanian city of Maan on Tuesday in protest against the alleged police torture of a youth who later died.

They said riot police fired teargas at scores of protesters who gathered after the funeral of 15-year-old Suleiman Ahmad al-Fanatseh, at the main police station and fired shot guns at police vehicles and set fire to the building.

Demonstrators later torched a nearby post office, ransacked a school and stormed a government building—Reuters
