Protest held against killing

By Our Correspondent

SUKKUR, Jan 21: The residents of Islam Colony, New Pind, Sukkur, staged a protest demonstration in front of the DCO office on Monday against the killing of a person by armed dacoits on late Sunday night.

The protestors burnt tyres and chanted slogans against the police who, according to them, failed to reach in time in the colony despite information about the robbery was given to the police.

The armed dacoits entered into the house of Baggan Chachar, son of Rahim Bux, when the inmates of the house were in sleep, and unfastened five cattle heads from his house. When the inmates awoke and offered resistance, the dacoits opened fire killing Baggan Chachar.

Some of the inmates of the house informed the police about the incident but police failed to reach the spot in time.

The police sources, however, claimed that the incident was the result of an old enmity between Chachars and Dharejos.

The police later conducted raids in village Dharejo and arrested four persons, Qalander Bux, Amir Bux, Qurban and Karim, who were involved in the crime. Three cattle heads were also recovered from their possession.
