KARACHI, Jan 20: Karachi Colours finished at the top on the concluding day of the preliminary round of the junior under-18 national hockey championship after a 6-0 win over Lower Sindh Sunday.

The local boys had no difficulty in mauling their opposition after they slammed home thrice within 12 minutes and then a late first half goal to take a convincing 4-0 lead.

Imran Mahmood opened the blitz with a 4th-minute goal, while Allay Hassan pumped in the second in the 9th minute.

Shabbir Ahmad, the hat trick scorer against Upper Sindh Saturday, who was shown a green card along with Sindh’s Naeem Waheed in the 27th minute, grabbed the third in the 12th minute.

Still trying to pull themselves, Lower Sindh received another blow just a minute before the half time whistle when Hanif Shahzad struck home a penalty corner.

The home side sustained their domination in the second period with a Mudassir Abbas goal in the 51st minute, while Iftikhar Ahmad cut in from the left to score with an acute angle a minute before time.

Karachi Whites, who settled behind Colours, went on rampage against Upper Sindh with a 7-0 triumph.

After a goal each from Irfan Anjum (20th minute), and skipper Wasif Raza (29th minute), the winners added five more to complete the rout.

Irfan opened the second half attack and put the Whites ahead slotting his second three minutes into the second half. Mohammad Zakir sounded the board in the 38th minute, while Wasif cracked home to make it 5-0.
