Landmine blast kills two brothers

BAJAUR, Jan 20: Two brothers died in a landmine explosion in the Srowano area of Salarzai subdivision in Bajaur Agency on Sunday.

The Russian-made anti-personnel mine was laid by unidentified people in the fields of one Fazal Karim.

His two sons went to work in the fields in the morning and accidentally stepped on the mine which exploded, killing them on the spot.

The deceased were: Omar Khan, 16, and Arshad Khan, 18.

The locals of Salarzai told Dawn that Fazal Karim had an enmity with some people of the area. They said that so far four people of the Fazal Karim group had been killed in landmine blasts.
