SADDA, Jan 19: A young Afghan refugee was shot dead by his uncle near the Tendo refugee settlement in the Kurram Agency here on Sunday.

The deceased, Eid Marjan, was a labourer and was living with his maternal uncle in the tribal agency for the last several years. He had gone to Afghanistan to spend the Eidul Fitr with his mother and when he returned after Eid, his uncle Zahir Jan also came along with him to Pakistan.

On the day of occurrence, Zahir Jan persuaded Eid Marjan to accompany him to a nearby village early in the morning. On the way, Zahir opened indiscriminate firing on his nephew with his pistol and Eid Marjan died on the spot.

Close relatives of the deceased said that Eid Marjan had illicit relations with his cousin. However, others said that he was killed over a property dispute.

DPs shifted: United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) shifted 150 vulnerable displaced Afghan families from the Jalozai camp to Azgharo camp in Kurram Agency on Friday.

The UNHCR officials said that around 25,000 displaced Afghans would be accommodated at the new camp.
