KARACHI: Water shortage in several areas

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 19: Several parts of the city, including sprawling North Karachi Township, have been facing water crisis for the past one week.

Residents of North Karachi told Dawn that whenever they lodge a complaint about water shortage with the KWSB, they are informed that those responsible for supplying water had been pumping less than their fixed quota of water.

The residents of affected sectors of the Township regretted that since the water shortage problem had become chronic, they have no choice but to consume sub-soil unhygienic water at the cost of their health.

Most of such complaints have been received from North Karachi’s sectors 15-A, 15-B, 5-C-1, 10, 11-A and 11-B.

The other localities where water shortage had been persisting for the last four or five days include KDA Scheme-1 and different parts of Old City area.

Residents of the affected localities of Old City Area complained that although water shortage problem had been lingering since long, the concerned officials of the KWSB were taking no measures to restore normal supply.

They demanded of the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan, to look into the matter.
