3 water reservoirs to be built

By Our Correspondent

HANGU, Jan 18: Zila Naib Nazim Bismillah Jan has said that the government would soon construct three water reservoirs in the Hangu district at a cost of Rs310 million.

Talking to Dawn here on Thursday, the district council convener said that vast areas of the district would be brought under irrigation after the construction of the proposed dams.

The Naryab Dam’s construction would cost Rs252 million while that of Mohammad Khwaja and Sarozai dams Rs15 million and Rs40 million respectively.

He said the government had released Rs27 million for different development schemes in 17 union councils of the district, adding that work on the projects had been initiated.

Bismillah Jan said the district government was planning to launch special development schemes in the district with the cooperation and assistance of both provincial and federal governments.

Besides providing employment opportunities to the locals, the three dams would also bring about “a revolution in the agriculture economy” of the district, the Naib Nazim said.

He said the district government was also planning to recruit 300 PTC teachers.
