MULTAN, Jan 17: The local Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has appointed a committee to inquire into the alleged corruption in the Punjab Cotton Station by its three officials.

Cotton research ex-director Muniruddin Khan, assistant research officers Ghaus Rahman and Abdul Kareem had allegedly embezzled wages of the employees.

Chaudhry Anwar, a seed trader, forwarded an application to the ACE, alleging Muniruddin Khan did not provide him seed despite receiving Rs 200,000 from him.

Inspector headquarters Mehar Javed will be in charge of the committee.

Muniruddin was not available when the correspondent tried to contact him.

DISTRICT NAZIM: The representation of women in the district government will facilitate accomplishing the task which the new system was introduced for.

This was stated by district Nazim Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a meeting with khawateen assembly here on Thursday.

He said the sewerage problem, pointed out by a majority of lady councillors to be the major one, would be dealt on priority.

In education and health, he said, local people would be recruited on a contract.

The Nazim told the participants that the literacy ratio in the district would increase as the government had formulated a three-year plan.—Nouman
