KARACHI: Abid Abbas passes away

KARACHI, Jan 17: Renowned educationist Mirza Abid Abbas died here on Thursday after a protracted illness. He was 79.

His Namaz-i-Janaza will be offered after Juma prayers at Defence Imambargah, Phase IV. A former secretary of the Hyderabad Board of Education, who was being treated for a heart disease, he will be laid to rest in the Defence graveyard.

Soyem will be held on Sunday. Time and place will be announced at the time of burial.

He leaves behind five sons, Brig Athar Abbas, Zafar Abbas, Anwer Abbas, Mazhar Abbas and Ahzar Abbas.

Mirza Abid Abbas also worked as the principal of the City College in Hyderabad.

He contributed a number of articles to various journals. He also remained associated with Radio Pakistan and participated in several talk programmes.
