ISLAMABAD, Jan 16: Lt. Gen Tauqir Zia, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed an appeal by Jawadul Hassan, a former office-bearer of the Islamabad Cricket Association (ICA).
After a hearing late last month, the chairman upheld the Board’s order dated Oct 26, 2000, of appointing an ad hoc body headed by Syed Mansoor Ahmed to run the affairs of ICA.
Jawad had moved court over that decision of the PCB but the Lahore High Court (Rawalpindi Bench) ruled that Jawad file an appeal with the Board.
The chairman who heard Jawad on Dec 31, states in the order that action of imposing ad hoc was the result of several complaints, not just from individuals but also from various clubs.
The PCB held detailed inquiries which were conducted by Yawar Saeed, Zakir Khan, Brig (Retd) Shami and Brig Haroon Pasha. They found the conduct of ICA not in consonance with the directions of the Board and noted that there was large scale favouritism resulting in poor performance of the Islamabad team.
Tauqir points out in the order that action of suspending the ICA was initiated under article 37 of the PCB constitution and an hoc body appointed under article 38.
