Rural area seats in BMC restored

QUETTA, Jan 15: Balochistan Governor Justice (retired) Amirul Mulk Mengal has restored reserved seats for rural areas in Bolan Medical College (BMC) for the students belonging to rural areas of the province, including provincial capital Quetta.

He made this announcement during a meeting with a delegation of Tribal Action Committee headed by Taj Baziee advocate here on Tuesday. Nazim Quetta Mohammad Rahim Kakar was also present on the occasion.

The existing notification about the admission policy has been cancelled and now all new admission to the BMC would be provided under the new admission policy.

The governor clarified that 70 per cent seats in the BMC would be reserved for those students who have acquired education either in their district or outside.

The governor said that the government had taken the same decision earlier but due to some misunderstanding it could not be implemented.

The delegation apprised the governor about other problems being faced by the people of rural areas of Quetta district. Justice Mengal assured the delegation that all possible steps would be taken to resolve the problems of the people.

The chairman of Tribal Action Committee thanked the governor for resolving the admission issue, which concerns the future of the youths living in rural areas of the province.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the local bodies representatives and tribal elders of Rood Mullazai also had a meeting with the governor and informed him about the drought-like situation prevailing in the area.

Governor Mengal told the delegation that the government was making all possible efforts to resolve the problems being faced by the people of drought-stricken areas of the province despite having limited resources.

He directed the Provincial Relief Commissioner to send 2,800 bags of wheat for the people of drought-hit areas of Rood Mullazai, Dilsurah and Bostan immediately.

The governor informed another delegation from Pishin district that the government had announced Rs10 million development package and soon the district would get funds in this connection. He said in addition the government was also providing Rs80m for the development work in Pishin district under Khushal Pakistan Programme.
