JI claims speech made to appease India, US

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD Jan 15: Jamaat-i-Islami Deputy Chief Prof Khurshid Ahmad has said that a careful reading and analysis of Gen Musharraf’s speech shows that it was more a step towards appeasing India and the United Sates than a recipe for the progress of Pakistan.

In a press statement, issued here on Tuesday, he remarked that the speech had failed to address the “real issues” that faced the nation, though Gen Musharraf had re-affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmir cause and had refused to hand over any suspected terrorist to India.
