Rs580m for Multan uplift
MULTAN, Jan 15: The district government will spend Rs 580 million on development projects in Multan during the current year.
This was stated by Zila Nazim Shah Mehmood Qureshi in a meeting here on Tuesday.
He said that Rs 2 million each had been given to Multan, Jallalpur and Shujabad tehils for the maintenance of furniture.
Wasa, he said, had been granted Rs 50 million for the up-gradation of sewerage system in Multan. The first phase of the project would be started in February. Within three years sewerage problems in the city would be redressed, he claimed.
Other big projects included supply of gas in Shah Rukne Alam Colony which would cost Rs 20 million, and setting up of tehsil headquarters hospital in Jallalpur Peerwala, he said. Shujabad and southern bypass would also be constructed, he said.
For the agriculture development, tubewells would be installed and cemented water channels would be constructed in rural areas, he said.
He said that 289 district government schemes would be completed by the end of May. All the schemes would be carried out under the supervision of the Nazim of the respective area. — Nouman
