FAISALABAD, Jan 15: A gang of dacoits snatched official rifle from a policeman after severely beating him in Jundwala village, Chak Jhumra, on Monday night.
Head Constable Shaukat was on patrol in the village when some unidentified armed men attacked him. They thrashed him and fled after with his official rifle.
On receipt of information, a police team encircled the area but could not arrest any accused.
LOTTERY TICKETS: Police arrested 32 people while selling lottery tickets on the pattern of prize bond numbers from various parts of the city on Monday night.
The arrested people included Mushtaq Ahmad, Afzal, Nasir and Nadeem from Abdullahpur, Imran, Khalid, Abdul Jabbar, Khurshid and Liaquat Ali from Dhudiwala.
Ijaz Ali and Muhammad Ramzan from Sargodha Road, Rana Naveed from Ghausiabad, Haneef and Ali Ahmed from Millat Road, Shabbir Hussain, Younas, Nadeem Masih, Shafqat and Sajid from Aminpur Bazaar.
Ghulam Muhammad, Amjad Ali, Jawed from Soneri market, Mahboob from Rail Bazaar, Muhammad Shahzad from Kutchery Bazaar, Abdul Rasheed, Amir, Shahzad, Ilyas, Qaisar and Niaz Ahmad from Jhang Bazaar.
SHOT DEAD: Dacoits shot dead a dispenser on resistance in Bhaiwala village on Monday night.
Dispenser Saeed Ahmed was intercepted by a gang of dacoits who attempted to deprive him of his cash and wrist watch. They killed him when he put up resistance.
Nishatabad police registered a case.
BOOKED: Batala Colony police on Tuesday claimed to have booked owners of a textile mill on the charge of fraud.
Khalida Khanum, wife of late Rauf Ahmad, a retired officer of the Pakistan Navy, lodged a complaint with the police that her husband started business of chemicals some years ago on the Maqbool Road, Faisalabad.
She said Diamond Textile Mills owners Muhammad Ali, Mian Ismail and Kausar Sultana received Rs4.4 million from her husband as a loan for installation of machinery and other equipment in the mills. They promised to return the amount but now refused to do so, she added.
The police registered a case against the accused and started investigation.
