DADU, Jan 13: Desilting of the waterways originating from the Dadu Canal and Johi Barrage would be undertaken soon to provide equal share of water to the tail-enders in this season.
This was said by Dadu District Nazim, Malik Asad Sikandar, while speaking at the opening ceremony of the desilting programme of Khudabad Minor on Saturday.
He said the Nazims of the union councils would supervise the distribution of the irrigation water of the waterways among the growers in the district.
He asked the growers to cooperate with the officials of the irrigation department and supervising teams.
Mr Sikandar said that he had received complaints from several Nazims of the union councils that due to artificial shortage of water, the distribution system had failed. He said that he had written to the high officials of the irrigation department for action against the corrupt officials who had been selling water to influential landlords.
He warned the irrigation officials that FIR would be lodged against them if any watercourse was found tampered with.
The Nazim said that the Pucca watercourses of the waterways originating from the Dadu Canal and Johi Barrage would be built so that the influential growers did not steal water.
