LAHORE, Jan 12: The bay mare, Fanim, who registered a facile victory last Sunday, can claim the feature event of the 14th Lahore Winter Meeting to be held at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The Muzaffarabad Cup, a class IV & V combined handicap race, featuring the six-event card will be contested over a mile and will be the fourth race of the day. It has a field of eleven runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals.

The six-year-old mare Fanim is carrying a top weight of ten stones eight pounds in the handicap. Apparently a classy looking animal, she is speedy and in fine trim.

Since speed has won the handicap more often than not, Fanim is capable of proving it true. However, it depends upon the rider as to how skillful he is to take out the best from her. With a two back-to-back victories Fanim will be on course for a hat-trick.

Besides Fanim, the five-year-old horse Jet Master, a brilliant progeny of Al trui out-of-Pretty Face, the bay colt Crown Maker (Cry For The Clown-Maryln Monroe) and the chestnut horse Good Justice (Lucky Concept-Silver Bells) are serious contenders.

They have a handicap advantage over Fanim. They should prove thorns in her way to accomplish a hat-trick of victories.

The  Jaranwala  Plate, a term race  for  three-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies to be contested over the sprinting distance of five furlongs is the supporting event, which will be the fifth race in racing order.

The first race will start at 12.00 noon.
