KARACHI: People warned of unlicensed builders

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 12: Almost entire construction activities currently being undertaken in the city is unlawful as, according to the Karachi Building Control Authority (KBCA), only two professionals and one builder have got their licences renewed for the year 2002.

A circular issued to all concerned officials by the KBCA’s controller of buildings (Licensing), said that except for two professionals and one builder, who had got renewed their licences for the year 2002, the licences of all other professionals, builders/ developers had expired after Dec 31, 2001, and hence the professionals who are still continuing their practice in zones and sections of the KBCA without valid licences, are doing so in utter violation of Sindh Building Control Ordinance, 1979, and KBCA Licensing Regulations-1982, amended up-to-date.

He has advised all the concerned officials to obtain a copy of valid licence before processing cases of those projects where professionals, builders and developers are engaged.
