NKC to seek conducive atmosphere: Qayyum

ISLAMABAD, Jan 11: Kashmir Committee Chairman Sardar Abdul Qayyum has said that the committee will coordinate all the efforts being made to resolve the Kashmir issue at the domestic and international levels.

He said in an interview to BBC that the committee would try to remove problems that arose due to misunderstandings and propaganda.

The committee will try to create a conducive atmosphere between India and Pakistan for the resolution of the problem, he said.

He said war was not a solution to the Kashmir problem and atmosphere ought to be made conducive for a peaceful settlement of the issue so that the sides trust each other and discuss it.

The chairman said it was believed the committee would be able to produce results in the current situation.

Meanwhile, talking to Radio Tehran he said Kashmiris on both sides should be allowed to sit together, review the situation and work out proposals to be put before India and Pakistan.

About the war preparations in the two countries, he said there was every probability that the war might be averted.—APP
