Two die, a dozen hurt in accidents

GUJRANWALA, Jan 9: Two people were killed while a dozen others injured in fog-related accidents here on Wednesday.

A wagon was on its way to Alipur Chattha from Gujranwala. When it reached near Dogranwala village it collided head-on with another commuter wagon due to fog. As a result of which, a passenger, Liaquat Ali, died on the spot while about a dozen other passengers wounded. They were admitted to the Civil Hospital.

One Muhammad Imran of Cantonment was knocked down by a luxury bus at Sugar Mills Chowk in Rahwali. He was waiting a conveyance along the GT Road when he was crushed to death.

SHOT AT: A lady health visitor (LHV) was shot at and injured by an unidentified masked man in Danewali village on Wednesday.

Kaneez Fatima was present in her house when a masked man came there. He opened fire on her and escaped after injuring her. She was taken to the Civil Hospital where her condition was stated to be serious.

The motive behind the murderous attack and accused could not be known.

ARREST: Two alleged proclaimed offenders of Sialkot were arrested by Satellite Town police after a brief encounter on Wednesday.

Police received information that Imran and Raza Sajid were hiding in a house in Satellite Town. A police team raided the place to arrest them. They opened fire on police. They surrendered when police returned the fire.
