Two POs, cop killed in shootout

KASUR, Jan 8: Two proclaimed offenders and an Elite Force constable were killed in an encounter with police at Pakki Haveli village, Mustafabad, late on Monday night.

Kasur Elite Force in charge and a minor girl were also injured.

At least 12 ‘criminals’ and two policemen have been killed in encounters since Jan 1.

According to details, Kasur SSP Ghulam Muhammad Kalyar received an information that proclaimed offenders Ramazan alias Ramazani and Arshad alias Sundi were present in the house of Abdul Rahman.

A police party was sent to the spot which encircled the house. Kasur elite force in charge Sub-Inspector Imran Khalid entered the house with other policemen. The proclaimed offenders opened fire, killing Elite Force Constable Shahbaz Ahmad on the spot. Police retaliated as a result both the proclaimed offenders were killed.

Sub-Inspector Imran Khalid and Abdul Rahman’s daughter Aasia Bibi were also injured.

The condition of the injured was stated to be critical at a local hospital.

Police sources here claimed that the two criminals were wanted by police in a number of murder, dacoity, robbery, kidnapping for ransom, rape, extortion of forced tax cases.

FALLS PREY TO ENMITY: A man was killed while five others were injured over enmity in Zafar Kay village, Raiwind, on Tuesday.

Muhammad Akram had an enmity with Arif Hussain. Ghulam Haider, Akram, Iftikhar Hussain, Intizar Hussain, Muhammad Ishfaq, Muhammad Latif were going from Meir Dera to Zafar Kay village. They were intercepted by Arif Hussain and his seven accomplices who opened fire.

As a result, Ghulam Haider died on the spot while Akram, Iftikhar, Intizar, Ishfaq and Latif were seriously injuries.

Police registered a case.

GOODS BURNT: Four people, including Muhammad Arif, allegedly burnt Rs50,000 worth household goods of Dr Afzal.

LIQUOR SEIZED: Kanganpur police claimed to have unearthed a distillery and recovered 14 bottles of wine from the outhouse of Muhammad Boota.
