KARACHI: Young man shot dead, 9 vehicles taken away

KARACHI, Jan 8: Bandits shot dead a young man during a robbery bid in Saddar on Tuesday.

Police said four armed men barged into a computer software office in Fareed Chamber near Jabees Hotel on Tuesday. As they demanded cash, Sarfaraz an employee at the office tried to put up a resistance against the four bandits. The bandits opened fire and escaped from the spot, leaving the victim in a pool of blood.

The victim who had received several bullet wounds died before he could be shifted to the hospital. The postmortem of the victim was performed at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The victim had came to the city from Peshawar.

STRANGULATED: The dead body of a young man was found in Gujrat Colony, Jamshad Quarters on Tuesday.

Police said that the victim, who was in his early 30’s, was strangulated by unknown persons who dumped his body on a deserted street in Gujrat Colony opposite Dawood College of Engineering & Technology.

The body was sent to the Civil Hospital for postmortem. The victim could not be identified and the body was sent to the Edhi morgue for identification, police added.

INJURED: Two cyclists were injured in a road traffic accident near Native Jetty Bridge on Tuesday evening.

Edhi sources said that a bus knocked down Nawab Ali, aged 20, and Tahir Rehman, aged 26. The injured were shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The concerned police station drew blank on the accident.

CARJACKINGS: At least nine vehicles—five cars and four motorcycles— were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Tuesday, police said.

The cars (ADA-893) Darakshan, (ACV-214) Soldier Bazar, (ADF- 170) Ferozabad, (AAW-143) Gulshan-i-Iqbal were hijacked by the bandits on Tuesday.

The motorcycles stolen (KCT-9064) Korangi Industrial Area, (KCY-7281) Arambagh, (KCT-3713) Kharadar and (KAR-1566) Mobina Town,

Police claimed recovery of nine vehicles from different parts of the city on Tuesday. ARREST ORDERED: The provincial police chief ordered the district East police chief to conduct an inquiry into the Aladin Park rape case, arrest the prime suspect Zamir Siddiqui without any delay and submit the report to him in three days.

The administrator and the security staff of Aladin Park had been named in the FIR lodged at the Gulistan-i-Jauhar police station for raping a girl student in the administration block of the park.

The police registered FIR 403/2001 for illegally detaining the girl, torturing her and raping her. She had gone to the park with her boyfriend, a student of an engineering college, where they were apprehended by the park security staff.

They were charged with indulging in obscene activities. They were brought to the administration block of the park where the boy was beaten up and forced to go out of the park. The girl was kept inside and raped. The girl was freed after midnight on Dec 7, and she went to the police station to lodge the FIR.
