NZC chief unaware of Pakistan’s offer
Reports from Pakistan have said that the PCB would like to have New Zealand play their postponed tour between April 20 and May 15.
New Zealand pulled out of their tour of Pakistan in the aftermath of the Sept 11 terrorist attacks in the United States.
Pakistan have said they have offered New Zealand the option of either two Tests and three One-day Internationals, or five ODIs.
Snedden said he was not yet aware of Pakistan’s offer but he said New Zealand had an obligation to reschedule the tour in the near future.
“I’ll be prepared to look at what they are offering.
“The thing I have to think about is that we have a tour of the West Indies at the end of May and we have to be careful of player burnout,” he said.
Snedden said he would be prepared to accept a tour of ODIs, and playing the two Tests at a later time when they were tacked on the end of another tour, if that was what was required.
He will await receipt of the letter before committing New Zealand either way.
Snedden added that no itinerary for the West Indies had yet been confirmed although he will be attempting to have that resolved over the next week.
Snedden also said that he was not surprised that India had withdrawn from hosting this year’s ICC KnockOut.
In the running to stage the tournament now are Sri Lanka, Australia and Sharjah, although Pakistan has suggested the tournament be played in Morocco.
