NAWABSHAH, Jan 7: The lawyers of Nawabshah observed a two-hour strike here on Monday against the illegal arrests of the son and nephew of a senior advocate by the SHO of the “A” section police and his staff the other day.

Later, a delegation led by the president of Nawabshah Bar Association (NBA), Qazi Muhammad Saleh, met with DCO Nawabshah, Mehmood Ahmed Khan, and demanded of strict action against the SHO.

The lawyers have decided in a meeting on Sunday to observe a token two-hour strike daily till the legal action against the police officials was taken.

Meanwhile, senior advocate and ex-president of NBA, Ali Mohammad Dahri, has strongly condemned the illegal arrest of his son, Jahanzeb, and nephew, Abdul Samad.

Talking to newsmen, he said that on Thursday last the SHO of “A” section police, Aijaz Memon, ASI Arshad Awan, and ASI Rab Nawaz Zardari with their subordinate staff came to his residence and forcibly took away his son, nephew, and other boys, locked them up, and tortured them.

When Mr Dahri approached the SHO and the others at the police station, they told him if he did not stop pursuing the direct complaints filed against the police officials, he and his relatives would be subjected to the same treatment and involved in false criminal cases.
