KARACHI, Jan 4: The Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, General Muhammad Aziz Khan, on Friday, visited the Pakistan Navy fleet units to review the operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy.
During the visit he went on board a guided missile destroyer and called on the Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Shahid Karimullah.
The Commander Pakistan Fleet briefed Gen Aziz on the operational preparedness and counter measures being taken by Pakistan Navy to meet any eventuality.
The Chief of Staff of Pakistan Navy, Vice Admiral Fayyazur Rehaman, was also present on the occasion.
Gen Aziz also visited a submarine, where he was briefed about the operational preparedness of Pakistan Navy submarine squadron. He expressed his satisfaction on the operational readiness, professional skill and dedication of Pakistan Navy’s officers and sailors.
He appreciated the high morale of the personnel who were performing their duties with full enthusiasm in the current situation to meet any evil designs of the enemy in safeguarding the sea frontiers of the country.
PASSING-OUT PARADE: ”We are a peace-loving nation and desire to maintain friendly relations with all the nations of the world,” said Gen Muhammad Aziz Khan, while addressing the 76th Midshipmen’s Commissioning parade at the Pakistan Naval Academy here on Friday.
“While we are exercising restraint and continue to seek peaceful solution to all disputes, we have to remain prepared to deter the enemy from undertaking any misadventure,” the general stated.
He told the passing-out midshipmen that they were joining the ranks of the armed forces of Pakistan at a time when the geo-political environment of the region demanded the highest state of preparedness and exceptional sense of sacrifice.
Gen Aziz said he was confident that the armed forces would uphold their traditions and come up to the expectations of the nation.
Later, the chief guest gave away prizes to the winners.—APP
