FAISALABAD, Jan 4: The chairman, Central Board of Revenue (CBR), Riaz Ahmed Malik has said that the government would soon announce a comprehensive package of incentives for exporters, industrialists and small traders to boost the economy.

The CBR chief was addressing the members and office-bearers of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) here on Friday.

Under this plan, he said, taxpayers would be offered incentives, and efforts would be made to expand the tax net.

The government was endeavouring to explore new international markets for the maximum export of value-added products, he added.

He made an appeale to the business community to pay maximum taxes so that the economy could be strengthened.

President, FCCI, Mian Naeem-ur-Rehman in this address of welcome highlighted the problems faced by the industrialists and demanded of the government to take measures for the resolution of the same.

Naeem said that due to Sept 11 attacks on United States and tension on borders with India, the business activities had severely been hit all over the world, and particularly in Pakistan and added that the government should take immediate steps to tackle the situation.

The CBR chief, talking to trustees of Faisalabad Dry Port Trust (FDPT), has assured the local exporters that all refund cases of duty drawbacks would be cleared by the end of this month.

He said that special instructions had already been issued in this regard.
