KARACHI: Altaf slams baton charge on peace rally

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 2: The chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Husain, has condemned the baton charge on participants of a peace rally, that was led by human right activist Asma Jehangir, at the Wagah border on Monday.

In a statement from London on Wednesday, Mr Husain said baton charge and the use of indecent language against the participants of the rally, representatives of different NGOs, by the rangers showed that law-enforcing agencies were not interested in peace.

He asked the President to take notice of the baton charge on Asma and other participants of the rally, who were raising slogans against war.
