KARACHI: Wasim calls for India, Pakistan dialogue

By Our Reporter

KARACHI, Jan 2: Former chairman of the Senate, Wasim Sajjad, expressed concern on Wednesday over the Indian intentions and emphasized the need for resolving the contentious issues, including Kashmir, through dialogue.

He was talking to newsmen on the premises of the Sindh High Court.

Mr Sajjad said that Indian intentions had to be interpreted through their forward deployment.

He said that on the face of it their intentions were not good, and he was of the view that Pakistan must take appropriate defensive measures.

Referring to his meeting with the President, along with other political leaders, Mr Sajjad said that Pakistan do not want war, but if it is imposed upon it, India would find all Pakistanis united.

He believed that Pakistan has the necessary capability to defend itself.

Answering a question about the possibility of the use of the nuclear option, he said that in war every thing was possible.

Asked about the need for civilian dispensation to tide over the present difficulties, he said that it was always needed. He added that he had no reason to disbelieve the President that elections would be held this year.
