KARACHI, Dec 31: A 70-year-old man committed suicide after killing his daughter in Landhi on Monday.

Haji Mohammad Naeem got infuriated over some domestic dispute and tried to shot his wife, Naseem Begum, in his house in 1-C Area, police said.

During the scuffle, their daughter, Sabra, 35, tried to save her mother and received a single bullet in her chest and died on the spot.

Haji Naeem, later shot himself with the same weapon, owned by his son Mohammad Muqeem Khan.

A 35-year-old man committed suicide by jumping from the fifth floor of the Malik Apartments in Malir Halt on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Dinbaz.

Police quoting family sources said the victim tried to jump taking his son along, but his wife managed to get hold of the boy.

KILLED: Unknown assailants killed a young man in Gulistan-i-Jauhar area late Sunday night.

Police said Naeem Tahir, 40, was killed by a sharp-edged weapon by unknown assailants in his apartment in Haroon Royal City, Block 17.

The victim’s family was in Punjab and he worked as an accounts officer in a private food firm.

A 60-year-old man was shot dead by robbers in Gizri late Sunday night.

Police said bandits barged into the house of Dilasa Khan. As he tried to put up a resistance, the outlaws shot at him and escaped injuring his son Waqar and daughter Rabia.

Dilasa Khan was rushed to the JPMC, where he was pronounced dead.

BODIES FOUND: Police recovered body of a young Afghan woman from a house in Korangi Industrial Area late Sunday night.

Aqiqa, 25, was the second wife of Ahmed Shah, 40, also an Afghan, who was held captive by the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan.

Police said that Sabra, first wife of Ahmed Shah, had recently returned from Afghanistan and told Aqiqa that her husband was about to divorce her. Sabra gave some sleeping pills to Aqiqa and buried the body after killing her in the house on Dec 7.

The neighbours, sensing a foul play, informed the police, who exhumed the body from the house.

A decomposed body of a man was found from the bushes near Meteorological Department on Monday.

Police said the body was at least four to five months old.

ACCIDENTS: A woman died and 12 passengers were injured in a traffic accident in SITE, on Monday.

A bus of route 1D (OK-6111) going to Orangi Town went out of control of its driver and fell off the bridge near Habib Bank roundabout and landed on the railway tracks.

One of the passengers, identified as Ajuba Begum, aged 60, died on the spot, while eleven others were injured, who were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

The injured included Shabana, Malik Mansoor, Mohammad Asghar, Mahmood, Sultan, Sabah, Sarfaraz, Munnawar, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Inam and Shahida Parveen. The bus driver escaped from the spot.

In another accident, five persons were injured at Quaidabad roundabout.

CARJACKING: At least twelve vehicles — four cars and eight motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen from different parts of the city on Monday, police said.

The cars (ADR-202) (ADK-168), (G-9415), (AAA-066), were hijacked from Darakhshan, Jamshed Quarters, Jauharabad and North Nazimabad.

The motorcycles were taken away from Mithadar, Frere, Civil Lines, Kharadar, Artillery Maidan, New Town and Korangi.
