KARACHI: Repair of bridge ordered

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 23: The city Nazim Naimatullah Khan has instructed the city government’s executive district officer (Works) to immediately improve the overall condition of the Malir Bridge.

Deploring that the bridge, where a fatal accident involving a minibus took place on Sunday, was not being properly maintained, he asked the EDO and other concerned officers to complete the task of affixing the bridge’s railings and providing street lights within 24 hours to avoid recurrence of such a tragedy.

On a complaint that most public transport vehicles which plied the Malir route did not possess the required fitness certificates, he directed the DIG (Traffic) to launch a drive against transporters plying their vehicles without obtaining fitness certificates, ensuring that no person should dare drive vehicles without proper licence.
