LDFA splits into factions

LAHORE, Dec 19: The Lahore District Football Association has been split into two factions on Wednesday.

Both the groups held their meetings separately on Wednesday.

A group was headed by Anis Ahmad Khan Lodhi, but its vice president Mian Rizwan Ali with the collaboration of the acting secretary Khawaja Masood held a meeting and suspended the president. Rizwan Ali was made the acting president till next elections while Khawaja Masood was confirmed as the secretary.

The other group headed by Anis Ahmad Khan Lodhi, however, gave another chance to Khawaja Masood to explain his position regarding various decision he had taken unilaterally. The meeting also cancelled all the letters which were issued by the acting secretary since he assumed charge.

The meeting also cancelled the club’s identification card of all the football players of the Lahore District and announced that the fresh card would be made in next two weeks.

Both the groups also announced their activity programme.

The meeting (Anis Lodhi group) has decided that the district league championship will be held in March 2002. Earlier, the LDFA friendship championship will be organised in February, 2002.

Mian Rizwan group announced that the district championship will be held from Jan 6, 2002 at four different grounds. The draws will be taken out in the next meeting which is scheduled to be held on Dec 25.
