‘Trade with China to be enhanced’


LAHORE, Dec 19: A high profile trade and investment delegation from Pakistan during its forthcoming visit to China will identify more areas for mutual co-operation in different economic sectors and enter into several joint ventures in textile, leather garments and seafood products.

President Federation of Pakistan Chambers and Commerce and Industry Iftikhar Ali Malik who will represent the private sector during visit to China, in an exclusive interview with APP here Wednesday said, that there is a great potential for further expansion in our bilateral trade. He said that China can help Pakistan in narrowing down the huge trade imbalance existing between the two countries since long.

Iftikhar Ali Malik said that forthcoming visit of President Gen Pervez Musharraf to China will yield positive results and help further strengthen, promote and expand the trade relations between the two countries.

He said he as a top leader of the private sector will endeavour his best to persuade Chinese counterparts for investment in Pakistan which can be in terms of direct investment or joint venture agreements. He said for this purpose, he will enlighten them with facts and figure about the benefits of investing in Pakistan.

He said that bright prospects exist in Pakistan in terms of direct investment/joint ventures for Chinese private sector in automobile, agricultural equipment, TV manufacturing, polyester filament yarn, Guar and Guar products and Linthphon.

He said that China has opened her market for the imported goods from all sources, Pakistan will make all out efforts to cash this opportunity by adopting a well planned competitive entry of Pak products into the Chinese markets.—APP
